UV Water Treatment Systems in Flowery Branch
UV Treatment Starts With the Right Water Assessment
UV water treatment is designed to address concerns about bacteria, viruses, cysts, algae, and other microorganisms in household water. It isn’t a general-purpose filter for sediment, hardness minerals, chlorine, chemicals, taste, or odor. Choosing the right treatment starts with identifying your water source, reviewing available water-quality information, and defining the problem you want to solve.
At Upshaw Plumbing, we’re a family-owned and veteran-owned plumbing company that takes an assessment-led approach. We listen to what you’ve noticed and discuss your long-term priorities before recommending any work. Rather than offer a one-size-fits-all answer, we explain good, better, and best options based on your water, existing equipment, and goals. You’ll also receive estimated arrival times, clear service explanations, and updates throughout the process.
Call (770) 285-1887 to discuss your water concerns and schedule an assessment for your home.

Planning a Residential UV System
An installation assessment should look beyond the treatment unit itself. We review the issue being addressed, available water information, existing equipment, household demand, and the plumbing location where treatment would occur.
The assessment may cover:
- Treatment location: A point-of-entry system treats water as it enters the home, while point-of-use equipment serves a specific fixture or location.
- Water conditions: Sediment, iron, turbidity, or other conditions may require pretreatment before ultraviolet exposure.
- Household flow: System sizing should account for expected water demand and the necessary exposure time.
- Existing equipment: Filters, softeners, and other components should be considered in the overall treatment design.
- Service access: The installation location should allow the system to be monitored, cleaned, and maintained.
UV Lamp Maintenance & System Ownership
A UV system isn’t maintenance-free. Depending on the equipment and water conditions, routine care may include checking the lamp, cleaning the quartz sleeve that separates it from the water, confirming electrical operation, and responding to system alarms where equipped.
Cleaning and replacement schedules vary, so maintenance should follow the manufacturer’s requirements. We clearly explain the installed system and service process, and every service we provide is backed by a two-year unlimited warranty.
